One of the greatest needs for children from the orphanages
is for support for those who graduate and desire to attend
university. These children have to leave the children’s home
after they graduate and are on their own. They have to work many
hours to help pay for college and many give up or become
susceptible to unhealthy job opportunities.
Oak Tree Project was formed in 2013. It is both a scholarship and
a mentoring program for children who attend university. The
scholarship is provided for the children’s living expenses to
help them not have to take a part time job and instead focus on
their studies. The mentoring program is provided to make sure the
children are making wise decisions and are emotionally stable. We
believe through Oak Tree Project Korea will begin to discover
their own Steve Jobs, John Lennon, Nelson Mandela, and Johann
Sebastian Bach, who each had similar backgrounds as the children
in the homes of Korea.

현재 한국에는 수많은 아이들이 학대, 유기, 가난등의 다양한 이유로 보육원에서 생활하고 있습니다. 이
아이들은 고등학교를 졸업하고 나면 법적으로 성인이 되기 때문에 정부에서 받는 일정 금액의 정착금 만에 의지해 보육원을
떠나야 합니다. 보육원에서 자란 학생들은 주변의 후원이나 보살핌 없이 사회의 유혹이나 위험에 쉽게 노출되게 됩니다.
더욱이 대학에서 공부하기를 원하는 학생들은 학업과 일을 병행해야 하기 때문에 안정된 직업을 찾기가 쉽지 않고 결국에는
생계유지를 위해 학업을 중단하는 경우가 많습니다.
참나무 장학금 프로젝트는 이런 아이들에게 희망과 도움이 되고자 설립되었습니다. 이 장학금의 수혜자들은 매달
생활지원금을 받아 생활하고 멘토들에게 일대일 멘토링을 받게 됩니다. 그들에게 절실하게 필요한 것은 무엇보다도 그들을
믿어주고 격려하는 사람들입니다. 우리의 비젼은 이 아이들이 비록 삶 속에 수많은 아픔과 난관이 있었을 지라도 참된
사랑과 보살핌을 통해 폭풍을 이겨내고 꿋꿋이 솟아오르는 참나무같이 성장해 나아 갈수 있게 돕는 것 입니다.
