New Philly UID

We are a community group from New Philadelphia Church Sillim Campus (www.newphiladelphiachurch.com). A total of 12 brothers and sisters from 6 different cultures gather together once a week for Bible study, sharing lives and praying for one another at a cafe in Gangnam. Our slogan is Unity in Diversity, which is also a national motto of Indonesia. We are uniquely different, but united as one in the Spirit.

We are going to run this marathon called Run Againt Traffick for a big CAUSE! All funds raised will go to the Oak Tree Project (www.oaktreeproject.com), a scholarship fund and mentorship program for orphan college students in Korea. This program allows students to focus on school and learn important life skills, instead of taking late-night jobs in bars, clubs, and lounges to make ends meet. This is a real way to keep orphaned youth from becoming victims to human trafficking.

Please, join us in this run and sow the seeds into the future of our orphan college students. Your generous donation will be used to change these students' lives and the nation of Korea!

저희는 뉴필라델피아 교회 신림 캠퍼스의 커뮤니티 그룹입니다. 6개의 다른 문화권에서 모인 12명의 형제 자매들이 매주 강남의 카페에서 모여 성경공부와 삶을 나누고 기도하는 모임을 가지고 있습니다. 저희의 슬로건은 인도네시아의 모토이기도 한 '다양성 안에서의 화합' (UID: Unity in Diversity)입니다. 서로 독창적이게 다르지만, 저희는 성령안에 하나임을 믿습니다.

저희는 성매매 근절 달리기 (RAT: Run Against Traffic)라고 불리는 이번 마라톤 대회에 큰 뜻을 가지고 참여하게 되었습니다. 모금된 모든 돈은 고아원에서 자라 대학에 진학하게 된 학생들에게 장학금과 멘토링 프로그램을 제공하는 참나무 장학금 (OTP: Oak Tree Project)에 전액 사용되게 됩니다. 이 프로그램을 통하여 장학금 수혜자들은 생활비를 벌기위해 밤 늦게 술집과 클럽에서 일하는 대신에, 학업에 열중하게 되고 삶의 필요한 기술들을 배워나가게 됩니다. 이것은 곧 인신매매의 희생자가 될 수 있는 연약한 고아 청년들을 보호하는 실질적인 방법입니다.

부디 저희와 함께 이 운동에 동참해 주십시오. 그것은 곧 고아들의 미래에 좋은씨앗을 뿌리는 것이 될 것이며, 여러분의 너그러운 기부의 손길이 이 아이들의 삶을 변화시키고 더 나아가서는 이 한국 사회를 변화시키는 밑거름이 될 것입니다.

RUN AGAINST TRAFFICK (R.A.T.) RACE 2014

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, we are running the Run Against Traffick (R.A.T.) Race to raise funds for the Oak Tree Project, a scholarship and mentorship program for orphans in South Korea. Our goal is to raise $80,000 for 13 orphan college students. Please support us in keeping our students in school and out of working in night clubs, bars, and lounges. To run, you can sign up for the 5K, 10K, Half-marathon, or Full marathon. The registration fee is ₩33,000 and the deadline for sign-ups is November 3, 2014.
