Despite the many years, I have spent in Korea, I have yet to contribute to the outstanding work being undertaken by a number of organizations in relation to the issues of orphaned children in Korea. Such individuals find themselves doubly disadvantaged in a society where "networks" constitute such an important part in any person's progress through life.
The opportunity to access tertiary education is fundamentally denied to those unable to find the wherewithall to fund such studies. In order to escape a perpetuating cycle of poverty, it is essential for orphaned children to have access to the financial support that will enable them to participate in wider Korean society.
I would thus encourage, everyone who is so able, to support the work of those organizations, seeking to ameliorate the poverty trap, orphaned children, quickly enter in Korean society, as they mature into adults, without family to support them in any tertiary studies.
There are a number of such organizations, one of the better which, may be contributed to, through this site.
Yours,
Malcolm Wrest
