I am riding a bicycle from Seoul to Busan from 8/20 to 8/25. I haven't ridden a bicycle since maybe 5th grade. It shows. But I'm doing this because this is something I truly believe in.
I've been involved in the justice movement toward ending modern slavery in our generation. Never before have there been this many slaves in the world. The accepted figure of 27 million is double that of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade of the 1800s. That number could easily inflate to over 100 million depending on how you define slavery. It's actually our advances in technology that have made slavery such an affordable commodity. As such, slavery now affects nearly every sector of society as its involved in nearly every industry supply chain.
More specifically, sex slavery is destroying Korea. The sex industry itself has run rampant for years with most choosing to simply look the other way. As such, foreign women are being trafficked into this nation daily. Just as tragic, Korean women are being exported out of the country in multitudes. Korean women are the most trafficked into America, Japan, and Australia. There are believed to be as many as 1 million Korean women trapped in sex slavery. This has to end.
The hope for this trip is to raise awareness at a national level. We want this nation to know that there are still comfort women today. The trip will culminate with a screening of Nefarious at Hosanna Church in Busan. This is the second largest church in Busan and we're hoping for a large crowd both Korean and foreign. It will be screened with Korean subtitles.
Through this trip, we are raising funds for Hope Be Restored and Jerusalem Ministry. HBR is doing a great job raising awareness and reaching out to aftercare centers. JM is supporting the orphans of Korea who are among the largest targets of the trafficking industry. We're hoping to raise at least 500,000 won (around $450) per rider for these organizations. I hope to raise much much more (at least $2000). 90% of what we raise will go to them. 10% will help us cover the overhead costs of this trip. Please prayerfully consider giving to these causes.

홍대영이가 8월 20일부터 25일까지 자전거를 타고 서울에서 부산까지 갑니다. 초등학교 5학년 이후로 자전거를 타본 적이 없지만 제가 분명히 이것에 도전하는 이유가 있습니다.
저는 Justice Movement (정의실현 운동)에 관여되어서 우리 세대에 만연한 현대판 노예를 종결하는데 힘쓰고 있습니다. 지금보다 더 많은 노예들이 세상에 있었던 적이 없습니다. 2천 7백만명이나 되는 노예들이 전세계에서 고통 받고 있고 사실 어떻게 노예의 의미를 정의하느냐에 따라 1억명 이상으로 급증할 수도 있습니다. 지금 오늘날 과학기술의 발달에 따라 노예는 소모 상품으로 전락해 버렸습니다. 이제 노예는 사회의 거의 모든 분야에서 산업 공급망이 되어버렸습니다.
더 자세하게 말씀드리자면, 성매매는 대한민국을 파괴하고 있습니다. 성매매 산업은 수년 동안 아주 심각해져 왔습니다. 외국여성들이 이 나라에 매일 성매매로 유입되고 있고 한국 여성들은 성매매로 팔려나가고 있습니다. 한국여성들은 미국, 일본 그리고 호주에 가장 많이 성매매로 팔려가고 있습니다. 한국에는 거의 백 만명이나 되는 여성들이 성매매에 종사하고 있습니다. 이것은 반드시 무너져야 합니다.
이번 종주의 목표는 국가적인 인식을 일으키기 위함입니다. 저희는 이 나라에 아직도 성매매 여성들이 있다는 것을 알리기 원합니다. 부산에 있는 호산나교회에서 Nefarious (사악한 영혼의 상인)을 상영할 예정입니다. 부산에서 두 번째로 큰 호산나교회에서 저희는 수 많은 한국사람들과 더불어 외국인들이 모이기를 희망합니다. 이 다큐멘터리는 한국어 자막으로도 나옵니다.
이번 여행을 통해, 저희는 Hope be Restored와 Jerusalem Ministry을 위한 후원모금을 진행합니다. HBR은 쉼터사업과 이 성매매에 대한 바른 인식을 알리는데 대단한 일을 하고 있습니다.
