이번 RATK(Ride Against Traffick Korea) 2017을 준비하는 내내 제 머릿속에 떠올랐던 성경말씀입니다.
This is the Bible word that came to my mind throughout the preparation of RATK 2017.

막연히 좋은 일에 동참해보고자 시작했던 것이 어느덧 4번째 시즌을 맞이하게 되었습니다.
I was simple when I decided to do this, just wanted to do right thing once in a lifetime but
It is already the fourth time participating.

RATK를 설명하자면‘성매매 근절과 보육원 학생들의 장학금을 위한 프로그램’입니다.
부산에서 서울까지 총 550km를 자전거로 종주하며 이 프로그램을 알리면서 한편으로는 펀딩을 받습니다.
The simple explanation of RATK is that the program is for the extermination of prostitution and to give scholarships
to students in orphanages. The participants are promoting the program during the 550 kilometers bicycle riding from
Busan to Seoul. At the same time, they also receive funds towards the cause.

이 글을 적으며 RATK에 참여했던 지난 4년의 시간을 돌아보았습니다.
Through writing this article I looked back at the past four years of RATK that I have participated

삶 가운데 크고 작은 변화를 경험할 수 있었고,
I was able to experience a big, tiny change in my life,

무엇보다 더불어 이 귀중한 사역에 동참하고자 전 세계에서 모인 좋은 사람들도 만나면서
삶에 대한 다른 시각을 갖게 된 것이 감사했습니다.
Above all, I appreciate having a different perspective on my life through meeting good people from
all over the world to join this precious ministry

그렇지만 한편으로는 어려움도 있었습니다. But on the other hand, there was a difficulty.

과거의 저와 결별하겠다는 다짐이 스스로의 미숙함으로 인해 생각지 못한 오해와 갈등을 만들었고,
I promised to break up with my self in the past but due to the my careless demeanor,
it used to make a unexpected misunderstanding and conflict

이 과정 속에서 제 주변의 소중한 분들에게 본의 아니게 상처와 실망을 드리기도 했기 때문입니다.
Because of this, I gave hurt and disappointment to the precious people around me

그래서 이 글을 올리기까지 적잖은 고민을 했습니다.
So I was concerned many things until I posted this article.

평소 삶 속에서 크리스천으로서의 영향력을 보여주지 못하고 있는 저이기에,
Cause I was not able to show any influence as a Christian to the people around me on
my daily basis.

‘보살핌이 필요한 아이들과 도움이 필요한 여성들에게 미약하나마 도움이 되었으면’하는 바람으로 시작한
이 작은 행동이 자칫 사랑 없는 행위, 자기만족을 위한 행위로 전달될 수도 있고,
I just wanted to help the children who need care and the women who need help but it might be shown as
an act without love, an act of self-satisfaction and

만약 그렇다면 도리어 이 글이 읽는 분들에게 경제적・심리적 부담만 드리는 결과가 될 것이기 때문입니다.
If this is true, it will only give a financial and psychological burden to those who are reading this article

이렇게 스스로를 돌아보면 여전히 부족하고 부끄러운 모습뿐이지만, 하나님 안에서 조금씩 변화해
가리라는 믿음으로 한 살이라도 젊고 에너지 넘칠 때 하나님이 기뻐하실 일에 동참하고자 올해도 550km의
여정을 결심했습니다.
Even though I am still ashamed when I look back on my self, but I decided to ride 550km bike journey
again because I want to join in God's work when I have youth and energy with the belief that God will
change me little by little

부산에서 서울까지’의 자전거 여행이라고 생각하실 수도 있습니다.
You may simply think it is just a bike trip from Busan to Seoul.

명절에 가족을 두고 혼자 떠난다고 이기적이라 생각하실 수도 있습니다.
You might think I am selfish because I leave alone for spending holiday without family.

(많은 인원이 평소에 나흘의 시간을 빼는 데에 현실적인 어려움이 많아 매년 일정은 추석명절로 잡고 있습니다.)
(it is hard to make a time for many people to ride a bike for 4days on usual, that's why we make a schedule on big holiday)

그렇지만 RATK에 참가하기 위해서는 적지 않은 시간과 물질을 들여야 하고,
However, in order to participate in RATK, I have to spend a lot of time and money,

여기에는 가족들의 이해와 지지도 함께합니다.
And it needs familly's understand and support.

결코 낭만적인 자전거 여행이나 휴가를 보내는 시간이 아니라는 것을 꼭 말씀드리고 싶었습니다.
I certainly wanted to say that it is not a romantic bike trip or a time for holidays

For the spiritual and physical strength of all participants
3. 많은 사람들이 한국의 성매매산업의 심각한 현실을 깨닫고, 이러한 유혹들로부터 빠져나올 수 있도록.
For this nation, so that people can be aware of the seriousness of this nation's
sex trafficking industry and not to get into temptation

끝으로, 부족한 저를 지지해주시고 응원해주시는 분들께 진심으로 머리 숙여 감사드립니다.

사실, 기부를 요청하는 것이 여간 부담스럽지 않습니다.

제가 진심으로 바라는 것은 한 끼 식사비, 커피 한 잔의 금액 또는 그 이하의 금액이라도
What unit of fund I really want is just a meal or a cup of coffee or less.

그것이 50명, 100명, 그 이상의 사람들에게서 모이는 것입니다.
It is a small money, but if I can gather it from 50 people, 100 people or more than that
It would be more powerful impact.

우리나라 성매매 산업의 현실과 심각성을 더 많은 사람들이 알게 되길 바랍니다.
I hope that more people will be aware about the reality and seriousness of the prostitution industry
in Korea.
먼저, 저부터 그 유혹에서 벗어날 수 있기를, 나아가 근본적인 인식이 바뀌길 바랍니다.
First of all, I want to get away from that temptation, and I want to change the fundamental perception.

그리하여 제 주변 사람들과 그들의 주변사람들까지 점차 이 변화가 일어나길 바랍니다.
So I hope this change will gradually happen to me and people around me.
